Welcome to Day 10 of the 100 Candidates in 100 Days campaign! Now, We are here to cover a very unusual race. This doesn’t happen every election cycle, but we now have the opportunity to participate in a special election! Here’s a small rundown before we get to the actual details on the incumbent in this race:

What is a special election, and why are we having one?

A special election is currently being held for the seat of Former Senator Marco Rubio, who became the Secretary of State under the Trump Administration. Florida law holds that when there is a vacant seat, the governor can fill it until a general election is held, and that time is now. When Rubio resigned, Governor Desantis elected Ashley B.. Moody to the spot where she will now be running to fill the role for the next two years to finish the remainder of Senator Rubio’s term.

Ok! Now that we have the context sorted out, lets get on with the candidates!

Today’s Candidate: Ashley B. Moody

Senator Moody is a longtime Floridian who graduated out of Plant City, Florida, and has built an extended legal career for herself within the state shortly after graduating from University of Florida Law and being elected as a judge at the age of 31. After this, she was elected as the State Attorney General from which she was then moved up to take the place of Senator Marco Rubio in the Senate, where she has been since the beginning of 2025, and is now running to keep his position for the duration of his original tenure.

Senator Moody is currently running on a conservative platform, and as such, she has declared her stances as:

  • promoting the crackdown on crime and ample support for police.

  • acting against “DEI” policies.

  • standing against efforts to expand abortion rights at the state and national levels.

This concludes Day 10! Thank you for reading, and I hope this has helped you to make an educated decision on who you will vote for in this special election. Please look forward to Day 11
