Welcome everyone to Day 13 of the 100 Candidates in 100 Days. Today we are starting to cover the (short) race for Attorney General in the State of Florida. Senator Rubio’s exit from his Senate seat shook up the positioning for many of Florida’s public servants. As such, when Senator Ashley Moody left behind the role of attorney general for the sake of covering for Rubio, someone therefore had to cover for her. That was where Hames Uthmeier stepped in to finish her term, and as such he is the incumbent in this election.
Today’s Cadidate: James Uthmeier
Uthmeier has had extensive political involvement since the first Trump presidency, as he participated in the 2016 election of trump as an advisor to the Campaign. Since he is running for a legal position, it is relevant to mention that he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Florida and his Law degree from Georgetown University. Before being attorney general, he was also Chief of Staff for Governor Ron Desantis.
Uthmeier has performed his works as a public servant in a conservative light, as such he has aligned himself with the current administration’s mission. This includes positions such as:
prioritizing parental rights in the context of education and medicine
incorporating tax relief into the state budget
take the government’s hands out of the administration of business.
