Hello Everyone! Today marks the start of the 100 Candidates in 100 Days campaign! Since I’ve already covered the only Democratic candidate running in the 9th district, I thought it appropriate to start covering the Republican candidates as well. Up first is the topic of the day: Marcus Carter.

Today’s Candidate: Marcus Carter

Carter is a political newcomer who has promoted himself over the pride of holding a “grassroots campaign,” meaning that it was the citizen body that gathered enough signatures to submit him to the ballot. He has run one time before as the House Rep for the 9th district as an independent, but was defeated by Darren Soto.

Carter is currently adopting a conservative platform, and his main issues of contention are:

  • Passing legislation towards helping the mental health epidemic in America

  • Addressing the rising costs of homes by banning investment firms from buying single family housing.

  • Establishing term limits on members of Congress

  • Preventing the disestablishment of Social Security

  • Enforcing laws against illegal immigration

  • Improving education

  • Removing “DEI” pracitces from the federal government

These stances place Carter squarely in the conservative camp.

Thank you for reading! I hope that this has helped you make a clearer decision about who you will cast your ballot for in November!

No quote of the day today, sorry. 100 candidates in 100 days is a lot, so the quotes will likely come in once a week. I hope they are enjoyable to all of you.
