This marks the second day of our “100 Candidates in 100 Days” series. On Day 1, we covered Marcus Carter. Normally, I would take a look at the candidates for the Democractic Primaries next. However, the current incumbent, Darren Soto, is running unopposed and I have already covered him in the past, so We continue with Thomas Chalifoux.
Today’s Candidate: Thomas Chalifoux
Chalifoux is one of the candidates currently competing for the Republican nomination in the 9th District. He is a retired Colonel in the Army who served 30 years. He has also spent 48 years participating inside of the private sector as a businessman. He has held several roles in public service at the local level such as being the a member of the Osceola County School Board.
Chalifoux is currently running on the conservative platform, and as such has designated several issues that matter the most to him in what he has dubbed the “four fights” of his campaign:
Protect taxpayer dollars by emphasizing a sense of accountability on the beurocrarcy
Promote homeownership by removing restrictions on builders and selling federal lands in order to construct more housing in order to drive prices down.
Emphasizing wage gains and childcare option for families to be more financially stable in order to help families move forward financially. There is also a clause to force hospitals to be transparent with about pricing.
Expanding different job opportunities for young people within the trades and other blue collar professions, therefore giving these young people more paths towards financial stability through work. Also seeking to emphasize the creation of jobs that cannot be outsourced.
