Senator Scott began his race with quite the enormous advantage: he has significant experience in Floridian politics. Scott served as the Governor of Florida for two terms before aspiring for a federal office. When in possession of a history with an office that exists in the public spotlight, people can relate actions to names, and Scott certainly took advantage of that. His race for election was very clear cut, with him winning 55.6% (5,977,706) of the vote. His Democratic opposition, on the other hand, gained about 42.8% (4,603,077) of the vote.

Senator Scott has been in the Senate since 2019, and it appears that he has taken advantage of his time in office. As of April 2026, Scott has taken actions on roughly 2,851 Bills and resolutions that have passed through the Senate. He is also heavily involved in several Senate committees, such as:

Scott’s medical company, Columbia/HCA, took centerstage in the largest fraud settlement case in U.S. history. Without getting into too much detail, the company had to pay a $600 million dollar fine for abusing the Medicare and Medicaid systems by offering illegal pushbacks to doctors, as well as other fraudulent actions. when all lawsuits were accounted for, the company was required to pay over $2 billions dollars in civil suits, and pled guilty to 14 different felony charges between 2000 and 2002.
