Darren Soto in Congress:
Mr. Soto has been serving as the representative in Florida’s 9th Congressional District for nearly 10 years now, as he entered office in 2017. He has had a long career as a politician in tandem with the Democratic Party, as he had been involved in local politics ever since 2012 as a member of the Florida senate.
Since he is up for reelection for the 2026 midterms, it feels like a great time to cover his work in the past to see how he might perform should he be elected again.

Reproductive Rights
Rep. Soto was one of 216 cosponsors of the Women’s Health Protection Act of 2023, whose official title as introduced reads, “To protect a person's ability to determine whether to continue or end a pregnancy, and to protect a health care provider's ability to provide abortion services.”
Gun Control
Rep. Soto was one of 185 cosponsers of the Assault Weapons Ban of 2025, which would, as paraphrased, prohibit the new sale or posession of semiautomatic firearms and their prospective ammunition feeding devices.
Environmental Policies and Climate Change
Soto has done plenty of work and taken action in response of his promise to focus attention on climate change. Bills Include: H.R. 6815, H.R. 3184, H.R. 6805, and many others.
Immigration
Soto has spent an immense amount of time in this area of his promises in particular due to the increasingly contentious and political nature of this issue. There are simply too many bills and actions taken to name right here, but one of the most notable was to stop the deportation of “DREAMer” children who are the kids of illegal immigrants who were brought by their parents across the U.S Border. When outlining his issues on his campaign website, Representative Soto states, “Our laws need to catch up with our values and with reality. We aren’t going to deport 11 million undocumented people…”
Representative Soto has, generally, kept in line with the values he promoted during his campaign, and if his track record is anything to go by, he will continue to support these values should he be reelected in this upcoming 2026 midterms.
